Tournament Rules
Each participant must read and acknowledge the following rules & indicate so by signing the registration form.
1. Federal, State & Local laws shall always be obeyed by contestants. Violation of any federal, state or local law shall result in immediate disqualification of the individual and his/her team from the tournament series.
2. The tournament is open to any and all competitors including fishing guides. All participants will be entered in the same division. There will be no exclusive guide division.
3. Contestants under the age of 18 must fish with a legal guardian/parent. All anglers 17 and older that are entered into the tournament, must have a valid Texas Parks & Wildlife Saltwater Fishing License.
4. Tournament participants are expected to follow the highest standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, and ethics. Unethical conduct will result in disqualification from the tournament.
6. Due to Changes in the Speckled Trout regulations, Trout will be submitted by video to Weighmaster. NO TROUT WILL BE BROUGHT TO WEIGH IN. Trout must be at least 3lbs to be eligible for entry into the tournament. The purpose for this is to help in conservation efforts along with not handicapping the angler to a 20” inch trout. Redfish and other side pot fish will still be brought in for weigh in.
7. All Trout video submissions must be submitted to Weighmaster by 2:00 PM, Weigh in for the Redfish and side pots will begin at 3:00 PM and you must be in line, with fish in hand, by 4:00 PM.
8. VIDEO SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS- The following trout video and submission guidelines must be followed at all times:
a. A team member catches a trout within tournament hours and in compliance with tournament fishing methods.
b. Another team member (or members) assists with video documentation of the fish being weighed using smart phone, iPhone, iPad or other video recording which can submit video via text, Dropbox, or WhatsApp to Weighmaster. Further contact details will be provided during the captain’s meeting.
c. Fish must clearly be alive, and angler introduced ie: “my name is John Doe, this is my trout for boat number 7, fish caught at 10:45 am, fish weighs 6.02 lbs.”
d. Item of the day must be shown somewhere in the video to verify fish was caught on tournament day.
e. Scale must be zeroed while scale is straight up and down and clearly shown on video prior to weighing fish
f. Fish is then placed on the scale and the entire fish clearly shown (including tail)
g. Once the scale is “locked in” angler must clearly call out weight AND the digital weight must clearly be shown on video. Trout is then removed from scale and released. A FULL RELEASE MUST BE SHOWN ON VIDEO INCLUDING THE FISH SWIMMING AWAY. Video may then be ended. ALL of these steps need to be present in one continuous video. DO NOT cut the video into segments. Fish will not be counted if it is cut into multiple videos.
j. Each team member’s video of their designated trout must be submitted immediately after it is taken, or as soon as reception allows. Video must be accepted by tournament officials by 2:00 pm on tournament day unless otherwise designated at captains meeting.
k. FISH MUST BE WEIGHED ON THE PROVIDED TOURNAMENT APPROVED SCALE AND ALL OF THESE ITEMS MUST BE PRESENT IN VIDEO FOR TROUT TO BE ACCEPTED BY TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS. TEAM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR VIDEO QUALITY & ACCURACY
9. Scales will be Foreverlast Digital Scale. Each boat will receive two scales to use throughout the tournament. Scales must be Returned by 4:00 PM
10. Angler must place a $100 CASH deposit on the scales at the captains meeting. Anglers will receive the deposit back after scales are returned free of damage and in working condition after Weigh-in. VIDEO SUBMISSIONS ARE FOR TROUT ONLY.
11. Submissions will be submitted to the Weighmaster through a QR code you will Receive at the Captains meeting, or through WhatsApp text.
12. It is the Team’s responsibility to verify with the Weighmaster that their videos were received by 2pm.
13. The tournament is limited to 40 boats based on scale quantity.
14. Official fishing time starts at safe light (30 mins before sunrise) the day of the tournament. (official time will be announced at captains meeting)
15. Entry Fee and Side pots can be paid for with cash, card, or Venmo the evening of the Captains Meeting.
16. At least one member of each team must be present at the Captain's Meeting to sign in, get rules, and pick up scales.
17. A member of any team wishing to weigh-in fish must be checked-in & in line before 4PM on the day of the event. Any team that is not checked-in by Weigh-In End Time will result in immediate disqualification. Official time will be announced at the Captain's Meeting.
18. Fish will be inspected for alterations in size, length, and weight. No mutilated/altered fish will be accepted. Fish can be gutted at the weigh master's discretion. Any mutilated/altered fish will result in disqualification of the team weighing in the fish. Tournament Officials and Weigh Master's decision on any matters is final. NO PROTESTS ALLOWED. IT’S A FUNDRAISER!
19. In case of a tie in any of the side pots, the team that weighed in first will be the winner. In case of a tie in stringer, the team that weighed in first will be the winner.
20. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FISH OUT OF THE BOAT, you can fish anyway you want, but all fish must be caught by rod and reel.
21. You can launch from anywhere you’d like to.
22. Teams and anglers must remain within eyesight of the boat, and all team members at all times.
Entry and Side Pots
Stringer is 2 slot redfish (20”-28”), 2 speckled trout (3 pound minimum no maximum, must be video submitted)
Entry- $400 per team, team up to 4 people
Side Pots
Heaviest Redfish in Slot (20-28") MUST BE SAME FISH USED IN STRINGER
Heaviest Black Drum (14-30")
Heaviest Trout (via video)
Most Spots on Redfish in Slot (20-28") Redfish MUST HAVE more than 2 spots to be eligible for Spot Pot. Does NOT have to be the same fish used in stringer.
Side Pots $25 each.
Prizes
1st place stringer- $3,500
2nd place stringer- $1,500
3rd place stringer- $750
All side pots will be split 80% to winner, 20% back to club
Raffle will be open from 12-4:30pm
